Bike Handlebars Review

I want to put bullhorn handlebars on my Cannondale. Can I mount my shifters and brakes on them?

I wantj to put Nitto 021 handlebars on my cannondale bad boy. I know it’s not a track bike but i like the bullhorn handlebars. If I buy them will I be able to mount shifters and brakes on the base of the handlebars? New biker…thanks.

Of course, although i use gripshifts on my aerobars rather than the ones mounted on the brake levers.

and its a road bike.

Cork is nice, but you need a deft hand not to tear it when stretching it over the bars. I have always liked Profile tape as an inexpensive, lightweight, comfortable tape that won’t tear as easily as cork.

Recently I used some Bontrager gel tape on my wife’s bike, and it’s no thicker than Profile but adds that extra little bit of cush.

I am currently using Fizik tape with Specualized Bar Phat underneath. The Fizik tape has a suede-like texture that I really like, but it’s definitely a thin tape and I need some plush in the drops.

I’ve also ridden on some of the stitched two-tone tape. Also thin, but the feel is exquisite.

Bike handlebars are loose? They move up and down…help!?

Well, I have a cheap huffy beach cruiser and I’ve been riding it everyday for the last two weeks, and a couple days ago the handlebars started…falling down? I don’t really know how to explain it.
Here’s a picture of handlebars:

uh…the red arrow points to the problem area; the handlebars aren’t like welded or soldered in that connecting piece thing…so they slip down when I ride…and I can swivel it up and down…that’s what is supposed to be indicated with the blue arrows. haha

I tried taping the bar in place…but of course that didn’t work
I tried jamming various things inside that middle connector area, but that didn’t work…

Does anybody know how to fix this problem? or do I have to take my bike into a bike shop…?

Bleh, it’s really annoying/kind of dangerous. It’s really hard to use the breaks and get onto the bike when the handlebars point down, ya know…

as it turns out the problem is fixed. I tightened the screw-thingy…yep.

Have you tried tightening the bolt. You can made a shim out of an aluminum can. Open the clamp and cut the can to fit around the handle bar and tighten it again.

How easy is it to fit road / racer bike handlebars on a mountain bike?

No harder than assembiling the bike when it comes new in the box. Just find the right stem that will fit the bars and the fork. Then swap out the levers just be sure your cassette on the rear wheel matches the levers (8,9, or 10 speed) as long as your not trying to use campy levers with a shimano drive train or vice versa you will be ok.
